Total Solar Eclipse
The Total Solar Eclipse on August 21, 2017, was observed from Glendo State Park in Wyoming, USA. The park surrounds a large, scenic reservoir just east of the small town of Glendo (population 205). The original idea was to observe the eclipse from the area of Lincoln, Nebraska, but bad weather conditions in Eastern Nebraska forced us to make alternate plans. Our team decided to move West - aiming for either the Western Nebraska or Eastern Wyoming, depending on atmospheric conditions. The location of Glendo State Park in Wyoming met all of our needs; it had excellent weather, an elevated observing site, magnificent views of the lake and surrounding area, and it was wide enough to avoid the crowds descending on the area from neighboring states. The photos, videos, and meteorological measurements all came out great, and our team enjoyed one of the best total solar eclipses I've ever seen.
