LEADING RESEARCHERS

ARIADNE ARGYRAKI
Ariadne is an Associate Professor of Geochemistry, Faculty of Geology and Geoenvironment, National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. Her research interests span in the field of environmental geochemistry, focusing on the study of geochemical behavior of potentially harmful elements in different environments and the quantification of measurement uncertainty - a horizontal theme that applies in all research topics. She teaches a series of undergraduate and post graduate geochemistry related courses in the Department of Economic Geology and Geochemistry and leads several research projects on environmental impact assessment, baseline geochemistry of soil and water, environmental applications of mineral amendments and urban geochemistry. She has a leading role in the Geo-ASty project and continues researching new aspects of urban geochemistry. Ariadne's personal webpage

EFSTRATIOS KELEPERTZIS
Efstratios (Stratis) Kelepertzis holds a position of Teaching and Research Assistant in the Department of Economic Geology and Geohemistry, National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. His main research interests focus on the geochemical principles governing environmental behavior of trace elements in the surface terrestrial environment. He completed his PhD in the University of Athens, Greece studying the dispersion, mobility and fate of potentially harmful elements in the freshwater environment in the mining area of Stratoni (NE Greece). He has also conducted several environmental studies in soil and aquatic environs in the Greek territory that evaluated the levels of contamination and allowed to discriminate natural from anthropogenic sources of enrichment. His recent research activities fall into the field of urban geochemistry and agricultural soil chemistry. He is one of the leading researchers in the Geo ASty project exploring the links between soil chemistry and bioaccessibility within the urban environment. Strati's personal webpage
