Research interests

On - site and laboratory marine biology studies. Studies on the life cycle, fertility, mortality, abundance, sex determination, biometry, bioaccumulation, detoxification, adaptation, food and oxygen consumption, secondary pelagic production, energy flow and food webs in relation to environmental parameters (salinity, temperature, food, light etc) and marine pollution.

  • 1998-2000. Modernisation and upgrading of the Postgraduate course in Oceanography, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

    This project was financed by the Greek Ministry of National Education and Religion (Postgraduate studies programme); the objective was to modernise the Interdisciplinary Postgraduate course in Oceanography of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in view of creating more job opportunities for graduates.

    Project summary:The syllabus spans over four semesters and benefits from:
    - new equipment;
    - the participation (lectures, seminars) of public and private entities that are involved in the sector;
    - the possibility to carry out studies on subjects that interest productive entities;
    - scholarships for students;
    - co-operation with other universities;
    - upgrading of available information (organisation of library, computer room, new notes etc);
