Giannis Papaefstathiou is a Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). He received his B.Sc. followed by a Ph.D. with Prof. Spyros P. Perlepes at the University of Patras. Upon becoming a member of Prof. Leonard R. MacGillivray’s research group, he held a two-year post-doctoral position at the University of Iowa. Ever since his professorship in 2006, he maintains a successful international networking and research collaborations with distinguished academic scientists worldwide, including Prof. Euan K. Brechin (University of Edinburgh), Prof. Albert Escuer (University of Barcelona), Prof. Vadim G. Kessler (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences) and Prof. Anastasios Tasiopoulos (University of Cyprus).
His research focuses on aspects of Coordination and Supramolecular Chemistry including the synthesis, characterization and reactivity of Metal-Organic Frameworks and polynuclear metal complexes.
