Our neuroimaging studies take place at the MRI unit of the Aeginiteio Hospital and Evgenideio Medical Center of the University of Athens, in collaboration with the Radiology and Medical Imaging Research Unit and the Cognition and Action Group of the Neurology Clinic.

The equipment includes a Philips Achieva 3T magnet, communicating with the experiment computer via a Cedrus Lumina LSC-400(A) serial response box under the control of DMDX experimental control software.

Pilot work succeeded in detecting well-known brain regions responding particularly strongly to faces, places, and words.

A brain's response to faces

Another brain's response to places

Significant group response to words and pseudowords
(as compared with fixation crosses)

Group difference for words versus pseudowords
(uncorrected)

We are collecting data to track the effects of lexical and sublexical parameters on the brain's response to real and made-up words. To take part in our research (and obtain pictures of your own brain in action!), please contact Fotis Fotiadis by e-mail to fotisfotiadis [@] gmail.com

We are grateful to Isabelle Gauthier for the face and place stimuli.
