Fields of interest

-Isolation of compounds with pharmaceutical and nutraceutical interest from natural sources. Search of new lead compounds of plant and marine origin from Greek and Mediterranean flora and sea. Investigation of plants from tropical regions.

-Natural products structure determination using modern NMR techniques, Mass spectrometry and Molecular Modeling.

-Design and synthesis of new molecules with pharmacological interest (kinase inhibitors, neuroprotective agents, antitumor, antibiotics, estrogen/antiestrogen) based on a natural product core; structure-activity relationships, optimization of lead compounds.

-Treatment of agricultural wastes for the large scale production of high added value natural products

-Essential oils, volatile, flavor and aroma constituents
