Ερευνητικό έργο στην Ιστορία και Φιλοσοφία της Αστρονομίας και των Φυσικών
Ένας μεγάλος τομέας της ερευνητικής μου δραστηριότητας εκτείνεται στην έρευνα και μελέτη της Ιστορίας και Φιλοσοφίας της Αστρονομίας και των Φυσικών Επιστημών γενικότερα.
Στον τομέα αυτόν η έρευνά μας αρχίζει από την ελληνική κυρίως αρχαιότητα και εκτείνεται μέχρι τις ημέρες μας με το εν γένει ημερολογιακό πρόβλημα.
Πράγματι, η έρευνά μας άρχισε με τη μελέτη του έναστρου ουρανού, τις εν γένει κοσμογονικές απόψεις όλων των μεγάλων αρχαίων πολιτισμών, την ονοματολογία και την καθιέρωση των αστερισμών στην ουράνια σφαίρα με τις μυθολογικές και ιστορικές προεκτάσεις της. Ακολούθησε το έργο μας για τις αστρονομικές μεθόδους μέτρησης του χρόνου με την οπτική γωνία ενός φυσικού, ενώ σταθμός στην έρευνά μας στάθηκε η μελέτη μας για τους νόμους και τους κανόνες συστηματοποίησης της μέτρησης του χρόνου που ολοκληρώθηκε με τη συγγραφή ενός δίτομου βιβλίου με τίτλο "Η Οδύσσεια των ημερολογίων", όπου γίνεται μία ενδελεχής μελέτη όλων των ημερολογίων του Κόσμου. Μελετάται η ιστορία των ημερολογίων, η αστρονομική συσχέτισή τους, η σχέση τους με την επιστήμη, τη θρησκεία και όλους τους μεγάλους αρχαίους πολιτισμούς.
Τέλος, με το κλείσιμο του 20ού αιώνα παρουσιάσαμε την ογκώδη μελέτη μας του αστρονομικού προσδιορισμού του άστρου της Βηθλεέμ, που έγινε η αφορμή για μία επιστημονική έρευνα σε βάθος της εποχής του Ιησού Χριστού, των μεγάλων στιγμών του βίου του Θεανθρώπου, καθώς και των πρωτοχριστιανικών αιώνων, πάντα από αστρονομική σκοπιά.
Σημειώνουμε ότι στα δύο τελευταία έργα είχαμε την ουσιαστική βοήθεια - μέσω αντίστοιχων προγραμμάτων - του Ειδικού Λογαριασμού Κονδυλίων Έρευνας του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών.
Στα θέματα της Ιστορίας και Φιλοσοφίας της Αστρονομίας και των Φυσικών Επιστημών έχουμε ήδη δημοσιεύσει εννιά βιβλία, που έχουν τύχει της γενικότερης αποδοχής. Επίσης υπάρχει ένα μεγάλο πλήθος ανακοινώσεων σε διεθνή Συνέδρια, καθώς και δεκάδες επιστημονικών άρθρων δημοσιευμένων στα καλύτερα ελληνικά περιοδικά και στον ημερήσιο τύπο.
