Brief Biography


   1.Education: a) Degree in Physics (1979);
                      b) Master Electronic Automation (1992),
                      c) Diploma in Byzantine Music (1992),
                      d) Ph.D. in Byzantine music and Informatics (2002)
   2.Professional Experience Includes:
                      a) The teaching of Physics courses in public school (20 years)
                      b) Teaching of Programming Languages in Vocational Training                                        Institutions and
                      c) in the University of Athens (6+4 years), and
                      d) courses of music on Byzantine Music School Messolonghi (1 year).
                      e)  Implementation of seminars on chanting voice in the Ionian
                           University and elsewhere.
                      f) Organization and teaching courses on Music and Informatics
                          in the Department of Informatics and Communications, 
                          University of Athens (3 years).
   3.Research - scientific activity:
                     a) Outworker and researcher at the Department of Informatics
                          and Telecommunications, Univ. Athens since 2006.
                     b) Member of the Speech and Accessibility Laboratory of the same
                          Department of UOA (See website:
                          (http://speech.di.uoa.gr/sppages/membersgr.html) since 2002, 
                          with the main object the study and analysis of chanting voice and 
                          Byzantine Chant.
                      c) Design and implementation of the DAMASKINOS Corpus, a
                          collection  of contemporary Byzantine Chanting Melodies and 
                          Voices, for scientific studies in Byzantine Chant.

   4.Writing activity:
                      a) Paper "Byzantine Chanting voice and expressions -2002" 
                          distributed to Students at the Ionian University (2002-3).
                      b) Notes on music and computers in Dpt of Informatics &
                           Telecommunications - UOA.
                      c) Papers in international scientific journals with issues of Byzantine
                          Music (1998-2012).
                      d) Articles in the daily press regarding generally the chanting.
   5.Artistic and Byzantine chanting activity:
                      a) Service in various Churches, as a Chanter particularly in the 
                          wider region of the City of Messolonghi and Nafpaktos (20 years
                          approximately),
                      b) Participation in various cultural events as cantor,
                      c) Limited edition and available compact discs and cassettes,
                      d) Publication of Byzantine Chant melodies at youtube
