Soluble Functionalized Carbon Nanotubes

The organic functionalization of carbon nanotubes (CNT) has opened new avenues with opportunities to fabricate novel nanostructures by improving both their solubility and processibility. The 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of azomethine ylides onto CNT p-network may play a relevant role towards this direction. Herein, CNT-based materials will be presented possessing differently functionalized solubilizing chains which hold strong promise as useful building blocks for the construction of novel hybrids for nano- and bio- technological applications.
