Hello! Welcome to my site!

My name is Maria and I'm currently working as a Software Engineer at Zalando's Fashion Insights Center in Dublin.

Before that, I was working at IBM Software Lab, as a Software Engineer of BigSQL Development team.

Background

I obtained a Diploma in Engineering from the University of Patras (ECE), and I carried out my Diploma Thesis at the ITLab Human Computer Interaction Group (HCI). The topic was the Design and Development of the Location-Sensitive Mobile Game Benaki MuseumScrabble (BMS).

Afterwards, I completed the MSc "Advanced Information Systems" offered by the National Kapodistrian University of Athens (DIT). In my Master Thesis, I focused on Semantic Search and Discovery for Earth Observation Products using Ontology Services.

In parallel with my MSc studies, I worked as a research assistant at Knowledge Representation, Reasoning and Analytics team (KRR&A), focusing on topics related with Semantic Web. I was also a member of the Management of Data, Information & Knowledge Group (MaDgiK).

Interests

Travelling: I really enjoy travelling. My most breathtaking trip till now, was in the incredible place called Iceland.
Cinema/Series/Theatre: I can never get tired of going to the cinema and the theatre. In the summertime, I enjoy watching movies at the out-door cinemas at the center of Athens. As for series, I am yet another Game of Thrones fan (and not only).
Reading: Every genre can be good, but a little bit of fantasy always makes things better. Favourite book at the current time Jitterbug perfume .
Music/Concerts: Indie Rock, Alternative Rock, Rock, Folk, Jazz, Indie Pop.
Fitness: Running, Cycling & Dancing.
Sketching: All I need is a 2B.
