Loukia MeligkotsidouAssociate Professor of Statistics |
I am currently Associate Professor of statistics at the Department of Mathematics of University of Athens.
I obtained my PhD in statistics (under the supervision of Dr Paul Fearnhead) in September 2005 from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Lancaster University. I obtained my BSc in Statistics in June 2002 from the Department of Statistics at Athens University of Economics and Business.
My PhD thesis is concerned with developing Filtering Methods for a number of statistical problems. Applications in the thesis are in the areas of Population Genetics, Phylogenetics, and Mixture Models. This research was an EPSRC funded project.
Apart from Filtering, Statistical Genetics and Mixture Models, my research interests include Bayesian Inference and Bayesian Model Choice, Computational Statistics and Markov Chain Monte Carlo Methods, Hidden Markov Models, Biostatistics and Econometrics.
