Moment-Type Estimators for the Dirichlet and the Multivariate Gamma Distributions

This study presents new closed-form estimators for the Dirichlet and the Multivariate Gamma distribution families, whose maximum likelihood estimator cannot be explicitly derived. The methodology builds upon the score-adjusted estimators for the Beta and Gamma distributions, extending their applicability to the Dirichlet and Multivariate Gamma distributions. Cumulative Link Mixed-Effects Models in the Service of Remote Sensing Crop Progress Monitoring

This study introduces a cumulative link modeling (CLM) approach to monitor crop progress over large areas using remote sensing data. Random effects are incorporated to capture the inherent inter-seasonal variability. Model performance is evaluated on eight crops using in-situ data from Nebraska, USA, spanning 20 years. Best Statistics Paper for Young Statisticians 2021 Award

I was granted the "Best Statistics Paper for Young Statisticians" award by the Greek Statistical Institute during the 2021 Panhellenic Statistics Conference. The conference paper presented was titled "Regression-type approaches for prediction of crop stage percentages". A later version of this work can be found in "Cumulative Link Mixed-Effects Models in the Service of Remote Sensing Crop Progress Monitoring (Oikonomidis and Trevezas, 2024)".
