• September 1988 - December 1989: Scholarship from the H. H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies of the University of Michigan USA, towards an MSE degree (tuition and monthly stipend).

• Fall Semester 1989: Symes Fellowship from the Η.Η. Rackham School of Graduate Studies of the University of Michigan based on the academic performance (purse).

• December 1993 - December 1997: Special Post-graduate Fellow at the Department of Chemical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), towards a Ph.D. (monthly stipend).

• December 2000 – December 2001: Scholarship from the Greek State Scholarships Foundation for Post-Doctoral research at the Biotechnology Laboratory of the Department of Chemical Engineering of NTUA (monthly stipend).
