The International Plant Genetic Resources Institute (IPGRI) and Danida Forest Seed Centre (DFSC) are pleased to announce the holding of the Final Workshop of the global project on “Effective conservation and use of intermediate and recalcitrant tropical forest tree seeds” which has been running for the last three years. The objective of this project has been to strengthen the capacity in applied forest tree seed research in tropical countries though screening activities and technology transfer, developing effective seed handling and storage methods for selected tree species, and improving basic scientific knowledge on recalcitrant and intermediate seeds.

 

The Final Workshop will bring together participants from about 20 countries to share their results and experiences on the global project and to discuss follow up research activities on intermediate and recalcitrant tropical forest tree seeds.

 

The workshop will start with a meeting of the ISTA Forest Tree and Shrub Committee on 16th September 2002 (9.00 to 13.00 hours) and continue with the IPGRI DFSC final workshop programme. The tentative programme is as follows:

The workshop is by invitation only, but will be open to the participants of the IUFRO Tree Seeds 2002 meeting. There will be no registration fees.
