Short visit at the “A. G. Leventis” Seed Bank

Prof. Costas Thanos, Scientific Responsible of our Project, made a short visit (February 3, 2023) at the Seed Bank of the “A. G. Leventis” Troodos Botanical Garden, in Amiantos, Cyprus. The “A. G. Leventis” Seed Bank was inaugurated in 2015 and our NKUA Seed Bank team had a substantial role in its inception and development. It belongs to the Department of Forests, Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment (Republic of Cyprus) and is currently fully equipped; it hosts seeds of many forest trees and shrubs of Cyprus (including Cyprus cedar, Cedrus brevifolia) as well as numerous other endemic and rare species of the Cypriot flora.
