I am a theoretical physicist working at the interface of quantum field theory, relativity and the foundations of quantum mechanics. My current research is centred on relativistic quantum information: how quantum protocols can be implemented on quantum fields, how measurements should be described consistently in quantum field theory and what an operationally sound, spacetime-respecting formulation of QFT looks like.
I also keep an active line of work in the philosophy and foundations of quantum theory, in particular histories-based and operational formulations, alongside with applications on classical and quantum gravity, quantum cosmology, and QFT in curved spacetimes.
Highlights
Research
My work sits across three connected research topics:
Relativistic quantum information & QFT measurement theory
I study how tools and notions of quantum information can be implemented directly on relativistic quantum fields. This includes also to understand the relation between measurements on quantum fields and the consistency with relativistic symmetries. An approach I have adopted as the most viable is histories-based and path integral methods and frameworks.
Foundations of quantum theory
I have an interest in alternative formulations of quantum theory and their relation. I have worked on problems of consistent histories approach and have applied Bohmian mechanics to understand the appearance of classicality of our universe. More broadly I am interested in scientific realism, how we construct physical theories and what they reveal about the real world.
Quantum gravity and quantum cosmology
Quantum cosmology deals with the very early moments of the universe. One way to approach these questions is through the canonical quantisation of general relativity. This involves the use of tools from constrained systems, symmetry methods in gravitational theories.
