Constantin Carathéodory's scientific work and its impact on Mathematics and Physics

The Department of Mathematics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the Research Center for Astronomy and Applied Mathematics of the Academy of Athens and the Institute for Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications and Remote Sensing of the National Observatory of Athens are organizing a workshop dedicated to the memory of Constantin Carathéodory.

The aim of the workshop is to present the contribution of Carathéodory to different areas of Mathematics and Physics and to focus on the influence of his scientific work. Among the topics to be covered are: Calculus of Variations, Partial Differential Equations, Geometry, Function Theory, Measure Theory, Optics, Thermodynamics and Relativity.

The conference is cancelled because of the COVID pandemic.

The conference will consist of several 50 minutes special invited talks by distinguished speakers, mostly working in areas in which Carathéodory has contributed.

The program of the conference and the book of abstracts will be available in May 2020.
